This Mix dall or Mix split lentils is a mixture of both Red and Black lentils (Dall).
Similar to kalo or Rato dall, this mixture is easy to prepare and can be eaten as a side dish with rice, bread or roti. This Dall is either cooked by itself or combined and cooked with vegetables, rice, and other ingredients. When cooked daal is paired with rice, the meal is called dall-bhaat and this combination is eaten throughout Nepal.
This dal is very nutritious and is also used in ayurvedic medicines. The dal itself is subtly sweet, inherently warming, and highly nutritious and combines well with a variety of grains to support healthy bone and muscle tissues.
