Rato dall, also known as Red Lentils split, is one of the famous lentils used in southern part of Asia, especially in Nepalese and Indian cuisine. This protein-packed legume is commonly served as a soup and paired with rice or flatbread, or ground into a flour and used as the base of a savory batter.
Similar to kalo dall, Rato dall is easy to prepare and can be eaten as a side dish also. This Rato Dall is either cooked by itself or combined and cooked with vegetables, rice, and other ingredients. When cooked daal is paired with rice, the meal is called dall-bhaat and this combination is eaten throughout Nepal.
This dal is very nutritious and is also used in ayurvedic medicines. The dal itself is subtly sweet, inherently warming, and highly nutritious and combines well with a variety of grains to support healthy bone and muscle tissues.
